Gardening ideas come in all shapes and sizes. As a recent trip up to my homeland, Yorkshire, proved! Open shelving in a warm wood kitchen

Source: This image is from the book Scandinavian Style, photography by Alexander Crispin I came across this image today and loved it. What a beautiful example of a simple, well-designed kitchen with subtle features that will stand the test of time. This kitchen puts me in mind of a well-tailored shirt. It has great lines, is clean and crisp and unfussy, with stand-out small details that catch the eye and differentiate it from other, inferior, kitchens. In no particular order, here are the features I'm enjoying in this room: Wood tone - this wood is a great colour - very mid-century in tone -...

Staircase DIY - The Results!

Keen-eyed readers may remember this blog post from a few weeks ago. It was all about how a lovely twitter friend had been inspired by a previous PD Blog post and had decided to recreate the look in her own home. I was super excited to hear about the project, so I asked Rachel ( on twitter) if she would send me a follow-up once the tough task was completed.  And now, here it is, complete with a Before & After, and I must say, it looks fabulous! Hi Becky, Well, we're pretty much done! It's taken ages, my Husband's a painter and...

Pretty Dandy Flea - 5th October 2013

Pretty Dandy towers is currently all abuzz with plans for the next Flea. After losing our wonderful original venue (due to security problems they were having) we had to find another and spent an awfully long time searching for something just as good. We have explored every inch of Nottingham looking for the perfect space and finally came up trumps with the old Vintage Warehouse. If you’ve never been, it’s at the bottom of Hockley on Cranbrook Street and is a fab building. It used to be a warehouse/construction unit for a window company, then later a vintage clothing shop, and still...
