Pretty Dandy Flea - 23rd Feb 2013 - Facebook event Yesterday we had an unexpected phonecall to say that the usual Pretty Dandy Flea venue had been double-booked. The venue is a practising church, still in use and they have had to book in a funeral for the 23rd Feb. Obviously this isn’t ideal news for the Pretty Dandy Flea, but there’s no re-scheduling a funeral!   So, we have pulled together what is looking like a pretty exciting alternative. I could claim that I've recently discovered a new illustration talent in the form of artist Jamie Wignall, but I would be bending the truth slightly. I first discovered him over ten years ago, when we lived together at university! Jamie always had a natural skill as an artist and illustrator, but it wasn't until he put his new site up online recently that I realised just what an incredible talent he has. This is my latest pick from Pinterest. I saw a similar paint effect in Living Etc a while back and fell in love with it. There's something really interesting about leaving something half-painted, half-finished, not quite 'done'. It makes a bold design statement, and shows confidence in your choices to leave something less than perfect. I think it works particularly well in this tone of yellow. I think it can be really difficult to strike the right balance on Valentine's Day. It's tricky if you are in a brand new relationship and aren't sure whether you're "doing" Valentine's, how much you should spend, or what their taste is.
