Pretty Dandy Flea - 5th October 2013

Pretty Dandy towers is currently all abuzz with plans for the next Flea.

After losing our wonderful original venue (due to security problems they were having) we had to find another and spent an awfully long time searching for something just as good. We have explored every inch of Nottingham looking for the perfect space and finally came up trumps with the old Vintage Warehouse.

If you’ve never been, it’s at the bottom of Hockley on Cranbrook Street and is a fab building. It used to be a warehouse/construction unit for a window company, then later a vintage clothing shop, and still has a really cool industrial feel. It’s huge and really bright thanks to enormous skylights. I am delighted with it and think it will be a really fantastic new home for our event.

The Pretty Dandy Flea began last year after a hugely inspiring trip to New York and the Brooklyn Flea. It was fantastic to go to an event with a real buzz, in a special building where vintage and handmade items of consistently high quality were sold side by side.

We decided to import a little bit of that buzz to Nottingham and have since had 3 Fleas, each with their own special mix of amazing stallholders. I feel incredibly proud to be hosting an event with such talented artists and passionate vintage collectors involved.

Each time we try to add something a little bit different to the mix, including live DJs, a pop up café with unusual gourmet sandwiches, record stalls, home-baked cakes and crafty activity stalls.

This time we are adding workshops and will be booking places in advance for a range of activities like sewing, printing, knitting and more. We are also planning some live musical performances, a range of artisan food stalls and the usual mix of fab vintage homewares and hand-crafted treasures.

Come and join us at the Vintage Warehouse – NG1  1EH on the 5th October for a really great event.

If you’re interested in having a stall then get in touch. We’re taking applications til the 5th Sept! Competition is stiff because we’ve had a really fantastic response to our call for stallholders. If you make interesting art pieces, craft gorgeous things for the home, specialise in art deco ceramics or bake a wonderful artisan loaf then get in touch!

If you know someone who likes vintage markets, handmade fairs or taking part in craft workshops then please do let them know about our event. They can sign up on facebook or follow this blog for all the latest news.

Thanks for reading and for helping spread the word!
