Staircase DIY
A few days ago I received the loveliest email. It was a response to a Staircase DIY blog post I wrote in May, all about creating gorgeous floral stairs following a project by Sarah Moore. It was a popular post, largely thanks to the beautiful images taken by Debi Treloar from Sarah's book Vintage Home: Stylish Ideas and over 50 Projects from Furniture to Decorating. I tweeted about it and chatted with a twitter friend (), who rather fancied giving it a go.
So, you can imagine my delight when the following email popped up in my inbox:
Hi Becky
Do you remember when you posted on Twitter the pic of the staircase with the papered rises and painted treads from the Sarah Moore Vintage book? I was so inspired by it and really wanted to do something similar?
As ever with these things nothing is that straight forward, and firstly we needed to knock the old plaster (150 yrs old) off the external wall, get re-plastered (next week), then a skirting needs adding, then the stairs need stripping etc etc.
ANYWAY, I thought you might like to know I emailed Sarah, as I wanted to know what she had done with her very small landing at the top of her stairs (ours is about 3' x 3'). To my delight she replied and has even offered to send some of her paper!
So, I really wanted to say 'thank you' for setting in motion such an exciting project from one simple Tweet!
Below is a pic of our current state!

I'm so thrilled that something I shared and chatted about has inspired Rachael to make a change in her home - especially such a fun one! This is a fantastic project and I can't wait to see the finished results, which Rachael has kindly offered to share with us all.
Keep your eyes peeled for our next Staircase DIY post, and we'll see how the project finished up!
First though, here's how it's starting out:
Thanks Rachael, can't wait for the next installation!
