Pretty Dandy Flea for Christmas!
Last week we held our first ever event, the Pretty Dandy Flea at the Congregational Church in Nottingham.
There were over 20 stall holders selling everything from records to tote bags to lampshades to crockery - all interiors/gifts themed, with a mixture of vintage, art, craft and curios.
It was a nervous moment for me as I opened up the church hall, let the flea traders in and began to set up the Pretty Dandy stall. After a mad hour of preparation, unwrapping, positioning, styling, tidying and plumping (of cushions) the second nervous moment arrived... opening the door to the public! Luckily within five minutes the hall was already buzzing and we were chatting to the first of our lovely customers of the day. It was wonderful to meet our customers face to face for the first time!
A few snaps of our stall (and me!)
We had a huge number of people come down to the Pretty Dandy Flea to browse the fabulous goods on offer and support our first ever event. It was great to see people from all over Nottingham who had found out about it on Facebook, twitter, in Homes & Antiques magazine, on LeftLion and more. All our stalls were busy all day with friendly customers enjoying the beautiful space and the treats of the Pop-Up Sandwich Kitchen, who were completely run off their feet all day long!
Most of the day is a total blur, apart from one moment when my lovely husband brought me a cup of tea and I paused for a moment and looked around. There were families pottering around and printing posters with FourBeatWalk, people sitting in pews sampling the gourmet sandwiches and cakes, lots of people gazing up and around at the beautiful church, busy stallholders serving happy customers and everyone enjoying the music, fun and friendly ambience.
I would like to say an enormous thank you to every stall holder, every person who came along, every friend who got roped in to help out and everyone who helped to spread the word and make it such a fantastic event.
I would also like to say thank you to every customer and stall holder who asked me to do it again... you gave me the confidence to go for it and I am delighted to announce that....
THE NEXT PRETTY DANDY FLEA WILL TAKE PLACE ON THE 24th NOV 2012!
It will be in the same beautiful venue (Congregational Church) - just in time to get your Christmas shopping done!
We promise a haven of beautiful things, lovely music and friendly faces in the madness of the Christmas rush.
Thank you once again, and I look forward to seeing you next time!
