Lighting at LDF2014 - No.1

London Design Festival was a wonderful source of inspiration in so many different arenas - from fabrics to wallpapers, cushions to ceramics. This week I've decided to pick out some of the lighting which caught my eye at the shows this year. This is by no means a comprehensive list, but a few which attracted my attention as I wandered around enjoying all the new design on offer.

TENT LONDON

Mater lighting
Mater designed these lovely acorn-ish lights

Seeddesign Salute light
The Salute light from Seeddesign - based on a wine glass don't you know.

Curiousa and Curiousa light
A wonderful chandelier fitting from lighting wonders Curiousa & Curiousa.

Vezzini and Chen
Vezzini and Chen brought their beautiful, delicate, sculptural ceramic and glass lights to the show - a personal favourite. Here's a more detailed pic from their site of the beautiful Dive In wall installation:

Michael & Georgs
And another favourite - the Michael & George Pencil Light - with the lead used to charming effect. I love this playful piece and the makers (pictured) were very lovely too!

DESIGNERS BLOCK

Beth Lewis-Williams ceramic light

Giopato and Coombes lighting
Giopato and Coombes lighting - I like how in this picture you can see how fabulous the space used for Deisgner's Block was - a gorgeous old-building only semi-renovated and with each designer displaying in different rooms and settings. Fabulous!

Giopato and Coombes murano glass lights - designers block 2014
Giopato and Coombes again with beautiful murano glass pendants.

Plumen light bulbs
Plumen lightbulbs led the way through the building to their magical installation in the ballroom space at the top:

Plumen Lightbulb tree
Yes... that is a real tree!

So there are some of the highlights from two of the big shows at London Design Festival. Look out for the second update with pics from Design Junction and 100% Design next week and then also a special round up of a trend spot - paper lighting!

Thanks for reading!
