Christmas Gift Ideas
With the colder weather finally starting to move in & Christmas only a few days away my thoughts are currently all about finding the perfect gift for my loved ones to show just how much I care. Now I think I have a particularly tricky set of relatives to buy for, so I thought I’d post my best ideas up here to share with other people in the same boat! Plus, if you have any great suggestions feel free to share in the comments
p.s. Mum/Dad/Sisters don’t read any further!
Mum
My Mum is a very appreciative recipient of gifts, so I know whatever I choose will get a lovely warm response. However, she is also a lady of leisure with a lot of time to shop, so finding a gift which is just right can take some time. Here are some of my favourite things I’ve found for her so far this year:
- Eve Lom Cleanser – a cult beauty product, from £30
- Skinny red leather bow belt – Jigsaw - £45
- Champagne saucers LSA - £45
- The Help by Kathryn Stockett - loved this book, even though I didn't expect to!
Dad
My Dad is pretty much the opposite to my Mum. He doesn’t really care about presents, doesn’t shop a lot and doesn’t really want or need anything. Nightmare! What to buy the man who doesn’t have everything and doesn’t mind? I like to begin with what he’s interested in and work out from there. This year the hobbies I’m shopping for are growing his own veg, wine and music:
- The Ten Minute Vegetable Grower’s Diary from the RHS - £8.99
- Essential Gardener’s Gift Set - £35.95 with wonderful Franchi seeds
- Good Things CD by Aloe Blacc
- Isabel Sauvignon Blanc from a lovely wine shop in Nottingham called Weavers - £17.80
Biggest Sister
This is a particularly difficult one as she lives in Peru, so not only do I have to find something light and inexpensive to post, but I also have to be mega-organised and get it in plenty of time so it can wing halfway round the world before the 25th December. Here I have a range of gift ideas which are good for people you know who live away and miss a few home comforts:
- English Dinner Tea Towel - £9
- Dr Who Series 6 box set - £36.99
- Eastenders Phil & Peggy & Grant & Billy tee - £11.99
- Afternoon Earl Grey tea – Whittard - £3.25
Middle Sister
My middle sister and I have very different tastes in lots of things, so it’s always fun shopping for gifts for her as I have to try and think myself into her shoes. She loves baking, snuggling down in front of a film and has a super cute new puppy called Nibbler. Feeding that into the gift calculator has returned these choices:
- Dog tea towel - £6.50
- Love Film gift subscription
- Mason Cash ceramic batter bowl in a gorgeous Mulberry colour - £18
- British Baking book by Peyton & Byrne - around £13
Now I just hope I can get everything bought & wrapped in time!
Wishing you a very merry Christmas, and a wonderful new year.
Becky
