A little while ago I came across a site called Ask Her Friends which does a clever thing. It provides really good gift suggestions for the difficult-to-buy-for ladies in your life, then lets you send the suggestions to their friends for feedback. I think it is largely aimed at helping less able male shoppers to get the gift right at Christmas and birthdays, but it's generally just a good idea for anyone who has a tricky relative/ friend/ colleague to buy for.

There are some great independent stores featured, and it asks questions to help pick gifts based on the lady in question's taste & style. I tried it for my Mum (always tricky to buy for!) and it came up with some really good ideas, and things which I would've struggled to find just on Google.
